THE GREEN ISLE - Clean power bid for Stronsay

LOCALS on a tiny island (Stronsay) are launching a £25million bid to run their whole community on green energy. Homes, businesses, cars and boats on Stronsay in Orkney would be powered by "clean" hydrogen. Even the ferry to the isle would be hydrogen-fuelled. @DailyRecord

Truckers Choose Hydrogen Power

Hundreds of semitrailer trucks zipping along North American highways are now powered in part by hydrogen. These 18-wheelers make hydrogen as they go, eliminating the need for high-pressure, cryogenic storage tanks or hydrogen filling stations, which, by the way, don't yet exist. read@WiredNews

Study Boosts Wind Farms

Wind farms in the North-East could be among the most efficient green power producers in Europe, it has been claimed. A new Department of Trade and Industry study into renewable energy by the Environmental Change Institute at Oxford University is the first ever methodical investigation of Britain's wind resource. Its findings reveal that annual capacity for wind power in the UK is greater than that of Germany and Denmark, two leaders in the field.
